Restaurant Azafrán opened its doors in October 2017. The name comes from the Spanish word for saffron – is more than a restaurant, it is a unique culinary journey with gracious European-style service. Like the spice itself, Azafrán is a subtle, luxurious difference that must be experienced to be fully understood.

We’re a casual and cozy restaurant serving up Asian small plates—from fun improvisations on that theme to faithful renditions of classic dishes that we love. We love the name “bonito” because it’s both the Spanish word for “beautiful” and the name of one of the most important fish in Japanese cuisine. Thus, it’s the perfect name for a restaurant that seeks to explore the shared traits in the cuisines of Vallarta and Vietnam, delving into our mutual love for funk, citrusy brightness, and carefully calibrated spice.
